19th World Festival of Youth Continues – 16 October 2017

Dozens of youth organisations around the world gathered for the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) organised by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) in the Sochi province of Russia on October 15. The Communist Youth of Turkey (TKG), the youth branch of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), also attended the festival as the only official member of WFDY from Turkey.

The second day of the World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) started with the parade of the WFDY organisations. Hundreds marched to demonstrate the determination of WFDY member organisations in the anti-imperialist struggle of the world youth. The march ended with a meeting where representatives of world anti-imperialist organisations gathered.

The festival continues with seminars and conferences on various topics related to the anti-imperialist struggle. The youth organisations discussed so far issues like “imperialist conflicts and danger of a general war” and “the refugee crisis as a result of the imperialist aggressiveness”, noting the role of imperialism in the ongoing problems around the world.

Since this year’s festival is being dedicated to Che Guevara, a conference on the legacy of Che for the revolutionary youth movement will also be held.

WFDY was found in 1945 in London following the victory against fascism and had become a symbol of the anti-imperialist struggle of the world youth.
